Using just powder on face to control shine?
I have oily skin so whenever I go out at night, my face would look very shiny in pictures with flash. But my skin is also pretty clear so I don't want to use foundation, just regular powder to absorb the oil/shine. Would using just powder work?
And if it does, I'm thinking about trying out Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil. If any of you guys out there used it and have suggestions, please answer.

Powder does help in reducing oil, loose powder is better at that than pressed powder as I read in the book "Don't go to the cosmetics counter without me". The reason is that the the wax-like ingredients in the pressed powder that keep it in a pressed form will shorten the life of oil control.
You can also try this product: Clinique Pore Minimizer Instant Perfector, it's a tinted gel, but it doesn't add colour to skin. Put it on the areas of your face that tend to get oily and it will keep them matte all night. I have also read in many sources that Milk of Magnesia is excellent to control oil and keep skin matte. You need to only apply an extremely thin layer on your oily areas.
You can also try a primer. Some primers are designed to control oil, so they would keep your skin shine-free longer than when you have nothing on. The Clinique product or Milk of Magnesia are probably more powerful in controlling oil but primers are still an option to consider. The best ones on the market are Rimmel Fix and Perfect primer; don't be alarmed by its peach colour, it goes colourless on skin. If you're into high-end makeup try Smashbox photo finish foundation primer light.
Note that any of these products would work nicely under powder. Also, like a lot of others users suggested, oil-blotting sheets are good to have in your purse in case you do get oily. I always carry the Sephora ones with me, but many other brands make them.
