Is a 1967 sailboat (Morgan 34) simply too old to purchase and maintain, no matter how he was treated?
I about to buy my first boat. I intend to sail it around the South Florida and the Keys. I try to keep the low investment since I do not know if my enthusiasm (and that of the family) will fade after a few years. I saw a pleasant boat a low price, but I am concerned about his age. I would like to conduct a survey (surveyor hire a boat), the important thing is fiberglass started to decompose. this is what the surveyor may find it a machine that basically an ultrasound of the glass (especially around the keel) and see if it is to absorb water if not then you should be fine (also the region were the mast is coming through bridge is a common point of stress most likely the mast has been replaced at least once to know when) Finally the sails should be a few years old. The rest is mostly cosmetic. (Oh if you are in it the iron spinnaker [engine] must be checked by a mechanic too)
