What do you guys think about New York Banning Trans Fat for all restuarants and making it into a law?
When does the government cross the line? Is that fair for restuarants as far as the cost? Does obesity affect all of us as a society when it deals with insurance rising? Where is the freedom of choice? I think this is an interesting topic and I want to hear good answers.
Here's my theory, it's a trickle down effect. The government is deciding what I can and cannot eat. Trans fat has been banned. Now restaurant owners need to find something to use in its place. Obviously this will cost them substantially more. In turn, the consumer will be paying more to eat at this restaurant. Now call me crazy, but if you don't go eating trans fat everyday, if you act in moderation, there really shouldn't be a problem. You will NEVER be able to convince me that banning trans fat is going to have a positive effect on health care premiums, etc. NEVER. Instead of the govornment looking at ways to make health care accessible to every american, they go after the people. It's easy to deal with people who have no choice but to abide by their wishes, but dealing with the real problem, i.e. healthcare is just too much for gov't to handle.
People are obese because they make BAD choices consistantly. If you sit in front of the tv, eat, sleep, work at a computer, and eat some more without ever inserting some exercise in there, what do you think will happen? Trans fat or no trans fat, people will continue to be obese unless they actually try to help themselves
